About the brand POLK AUDIO

In 1971, Matthew Polk, George Klopfer, and Sandy Gross were friends and college classmates that shared a love for physics, engineering, and music. They teamed up to build a sound system for a local bluegrass music convention, but after they discovered there weren’t enough funds to pay them, they decided to design and attach a logo to the system. Polk Audio was born. In 1972, the Polk Audio headquarters were established on a quiet overgrown street in Baltimore.

Their love for music inspired them to design and build a loudspeaker that not only sounded better than what was available at the time, but was more practical. Focused on bringing concert quality sound into homes, the Monitor Series was introduced in 1972, forever changing the home audio paradigm and setting the standard for performance and value.
